Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a photo from the "Deepotsav" in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on Sunday, calling it "amazing, divine, and unforgettable."

He went on to say that in Ayodhya, millions of "diyas" (earthen lamps) were lit, illuminating the entire country.

Taking to social media on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the "Deepotsav" in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, as "amazing, divine, and unforgettable."

Images from the festivities were also shared by the Prime Minister in a Hindi social media post on X.

He continued by saying that Ayodhya was the lighthouse of the nation, with millions of "diyas" (earthen lamps) lit there.

More than 2.22 million "Diyas," or earthen lamps, were lit during an opulent Deepotsav in Ayodhya on Saturday to celebrate the festival of lights, according to ANI. By breaking its record set the previous year on Diwali eve, the temple town set a new Guinness World Record with 1.576 million Diyas lit during "Deepotsav 2023."

The city set a new Guinness World Record by lighting more than 2.22 million 'Diyas' (earthen lamps) during 'Deepotsav 2023,' breaking its previous record of 1.576 million Diyas lit last year on Diwali eve.

PTI reported that artists from Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Russia performed Ramleela during Ayodhya's Deepotsav. Residents of Ayodhya were filled with joy as they watched Ramleela's theatrical performance and praised the creative work presented by international artists.

Every year, on Amavasya, or the new moon, falls on the fifteenth day of the month of Kartik, which is when Diwali is celebrated. Diwali fell on November 12 this year.

PM Modi celebrated diwali with Army Personnel

Sunday, PM Modi traveled to Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to join security personnel in celebrating Diwali. "Ayodhya is where Lord Ram is, but for me, Ayodhya is where Indian Army personnel are," Prime Minister Modi remarked during his speech.

As part of the Diwali celebrations on Sunday, PM Modi also met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
