What is the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Initiative?
Prime Minister Modi introduced the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme during his Independence Day speech last year. The program aims to provide skill development training to 20 million women in rural areas across India. Modi highlighted that India’s G20 presidency recognized the country’s focus on women-led development.
The scheme includes training women in various skills such as plumbing, making LED bulbs, and operating and repairing drones. So far, one crore women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ to reach three crore.
