PM Modi to Commend Chandrayaan-3 Mission's Historic Lunar Landing
Having concluded his bilateral visit to Greece, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a direct journey to Bengaluru, Karnataka, today, as part of a pre-scheduled engagement. His purpose? To meet the dedicated team of ISRO scientists who played a pivotal role in the remarkable Chandrayaan-3 Mission.
This mission has left an indelible mark in history, achieving a remarkable soft landing on the lunar surface, particularly at the uncharted lunar South Pole. This successful landing positions India as the first country to accomplish this awe-inspiring feat.
Highlighting the mission's global significance, Prime Minister Modi participated in the live telecast of the Chandrayaan-3 landing while he was in South Africa. Filled with immense pride, he hailed this achievement, stating, 'India is now on the moon.' He further commented, 'When we witness such historic moments, a sense of pride fills us. This marks the beginning of a new era for India.'
This historic accomplishment places India in an elite league of nations - the US, Russia, and China - who have achieved triumphant lunar landing missions. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft embarked on its meticulously planned journey on July 14, propelled by a GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Following its placement into lunar orbit on August 5, the spacecraft executed a series of precisely choreographed orbital maneuvers, ultimately homing in on the moon's surface.
This achievement encapsulates India's strides in space exploration, and Prime Minister Modi's interaction with the ISRO team underscores its significance. The nation's advancements in space science and technology foreshadow a promising future in the realm of exploration and discovery.
