On September 17th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his birthday by inaugurating the International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), YashoBhoomi, located in Delhi's Dwarka area at 11 a.m. He expressed his optimism about YashoBhoomi becoming a prominent global destination for conferences and meetings, emphasizing its state-of-the-art features.

The convention center places a strong emphasis on sustainability. It boasts a modern wastewater treatment system, provisions for rainwater harvesting, and has been awarded Platinum certification by the Indian Green Building Council. To enhance connectivity, a new Metro station named 'YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25' was also inaugurated, linking this iconic venue with the Delhi Metro Airport Express.

YashoBhoomi ranks among the world's largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, spanning over 8.9 lakh square meters, with a built-up area exceeding 1.8 lakh square meters. The convention center occupies more than 73,000 square meters and includes 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium, a ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms, with a collective capacity of 11,000 delegates.

Key Facilities at YashoBhoomi:

1. The Auditorium: This plenary hall can accommodate around 6,000 guests and features an innovative automated seating system, allowing for various seating configurations.

2. The Ballroom: Distinguished by its unique petal ceiling, the ballroom can host approximately 2,500 guests, with an additional open area seating up to 500 people.

3. Meeting Rooms: Spread across eight floors, the 13 meeting rooms are designed to accommodate meetings of varying scales.

4. Exhibition Halls: YashoBhoomi boasts one of the world's largest exhibition halls, spanning over 1.07 lakh square meters, connected to a grand foyer space, facilitating exhibitions, trade fairs, and business events.

The center's commitment to sustainability is evident through its state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system, rainwater harvesting, and rooftop solar panels. The campus has achieved Green Cities Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council.

YashoBhoomi features design elements inspired by Indian culture, such as terrazzo floors with brass inlay representing rangoli patterns, suspended sound-absorbent metal cylinders, and illuminated patterned walls.

In addition to the convention center, the Delhi Airport Metro Express line has been extended from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25. This extension will reduce travel time from New Delhi to Yasho Bhoomi to approximately 21 minutes.

Traffic Advisory: To facilitate the inaugural event, Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories for commuters. Certain routes were affected, and alternative routes were suggested for the convenience of travelers.

The inauguration of YashoBhoomi Convention Centre marks a significant milestone in Delhi's infrastructure development and its capacity to host international events and conferences, contributing to India's position on the global stage.
