PM urges record voter turnout in ongoing polling for Telangana Assembly
Telangana is buzzing with excitement as voting kicks off for the 119-member state Assembly. Starting at 7 am today, people are turning up at the 35,655 polling stations across the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone, especially first-time voters, to join this "festival of democracy."
With 3.26 crore eligible voters in Telangana, including 1.63 crore men and 1.63 crore women, the election is highly competitive, featuring 2,290 candidates. Key players include Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his son K T Rama Rao, Congress leader A Revanth Reddy, and BJP members Bandi Sanjay Kumar and D Arvind.

Security is tight, with over 77,000 personnel deployed, and the Election Commission introduced home voting for people with disabilities and those above 80 years for the first time.
As the day unfolds, more than 2.5 lakh staff are overseeing the process. The Election Commission's strict measures, including seizing assets worth around Rs 745 crore, reflect their commitment to a fair election. Private establishments, including IT firms, declared a holiday on November 30 to encourage employees to vote.
Results will be revealed on December 3, with leaders like Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao eagerly awaiting the outcome. Telangana's democratic journey is a crucial moment, emphasizing citizen participation in shaping the state's future.
