The police claim that on Monday, Angrez Singh and his son visited a gurdwara in their community. Later, he reported the incident to the police, saying that two men had stolen both his son and his wallet in addition to his phone.
The Tarn Taran Police sprang into action to find the youngster, although they had doubts about the father's account. Angrez Singh told the police he strangled his son to death after being questioned by them.
Station manager Sukhbir Singh claimed that Angrez Singh's claims were conflicting during the investigation. He admitted killing his son and dumping his body in a canal when he was questioned.
The boy's body was discovered in the canal by the police as a result of Angrez Singh's confession. The body and the phone, which the man said had been stolen, were recovered by the police.
The man has been taken into custody by the police, and the body was sent to Amritsar for a post-mortem. The police will probably reveal the information on Wednesday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, the boy's father's comments had discrepancies. "We have detained him (Angrez Singh) on the basis of suspicion. He might have been a part of the crime; we can't rule that out."
More research is being done, he said.
