The Chief Minister said, "We are involved in the grief of their families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured people in this accident. The families of the deceased in this incident will be given financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The cost of treatment of the injured in this incident will be borne by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and BEST."

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar also expressed regret on the social media platform X.  A speeding BEST bus crushed many people, and some people died in this accident.

"According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the bus." According to 'BEST', the accident was so severe that after the collision, many vehicles were dragged or damaged. 'BEST' said that the driver lost control of the vehicle after which the bus "speed increased".

In this entire case, a case has been registered against the bus driver by the police, and he has been arrested. According to the police, four policemen were also injured in the incident.

Key details of the accident

According to the police, the incident took place at 9.50 pm on Monday. On Tuesday, senior police officers and forensic team visited the spot.

An official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Tuesday that the death toll has increased to 7.

According to officials, the driver of the 'BEST' bus going from Kurla station to Sakinaka lost control of the vehicle on route A322.

The bus of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking entered a residential society named Buddha Colony after crushing pedestrians and vehicles and then stopped.

An official had earlier said that the bus was a 12-meter-long electric vehicle manufactured by Hyderabad-based 'Olectra Greentech' and was leased by 'BEST'.

Mumbai Police has closed the SG Barve Marg connecting Kurla station for traffic.

With SG Barve Road being closed for traffic, BEST is operating buses on 10 routes from other nearby locations instead of operating buses to Kurla station, a transport body official said.

Barve Road is one of the busiest routes connecting Kurla station.
