Delhi High Court's big intervention in DUSU elections, this is a celebration of democracy, not money laundering
DUSU Elections: Just a day before the announcement of the election results of DUSU, meanwhile the Delhi High Court has banned it. A day before the results of the Delhi University Students Union elections (DUSU), big news related to it has come to the fore. In the case of expenditure and violation of rules by the candidates in the DUSU elections, the Delhi High Court has advised to postpone the elections. The court said that the election should be postponed until the posters are removed and the entire university is cleaned. The court has asked the VC to use his powers by holding a meeting with the Delhi Police and top officials.

Court has advised to postpone the elections
The Delhi High Court has intervened in the DUSU elections and stopped it. The court said, 'The election results will not be announced until all the candidates remove the posters, pamphlets and hoardings put up on the walls.' The court further said, Delhi University will pay the expenses of MCD and DMRC which have been spent in removing the posts of the candidates and DU will compensate it from the candidates. We let you know, that the counting of votes will not take place now until the court allows it.
'No counting until cleaning',- HC
All though the counting of votes for the elections held for the Delhi University Students Union was to be held tomorrow on 27 September. But now this counting will not be possible tomorrow because the HC has banned it. Apart from stopping the counting of votes, the court also reprimanded DU officials. DU failed to establish a system to deal with violations of rules. Why did the DU officials allow the standards to fall and why did they not take steps to stop it?' The court further said, if the university will not discipline students then who will.
Situation worse than general elections -High Court
The Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela of Delhi High Court said that youth should not be allowed to get corrupted through such a system. This situation is worse than the general elections of the country. Is there any record of how much money is being used in the elections? It seems as if crores of rupees are being spent. High Court said that posters are being put up on walls. They are being put up on roads. You should take strict action.
Can DUSU elections be postponed?
Meanwhile Delhi High Court has advised to postpone the election in the matter of spending and violation of rules by DUSU. The court said that the election should be postponed until the posters are removed and the entire university is cleaned. The court asked whether you have taken pictures of the posters put up on public property? If they put up posters, then the cost of removing the posters will also have to be borne by the candidates.
16 thousand boards, more than 2 lakh posters removed-DU
However the lawyer of Delhi University told the HC that till now 16 thousand boards, two thousand hoardings and more than 2 lakh posters have been removed during the DUSU elections. DU said that according to the Lingdoh Committee, every candidate is allowed to spend only 5 thousand rupees in DUSU elections. The posters should be handmade and written.

Voting for DUSU elections is to be held on Friday, 27 September, and the counting of votes will be done on 28 September. On Saturday, the new panel of DU Students Union will be announced which includes the posts of President, Vice President, Secretary.
