MCD Election: A situation of conflict was seen between the AAP government and LG in the capital Delhi. While  the occasion was the election of the Standing Committee in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, for which voting began at 1 pm, but this is the first time in the history of MCD that Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are not participating in this election. This election is being conducted without AAP and Congress councilors.

In the meanwhile voting is going on for the Standing Committee election in the MCD House in Delhi. This election is being held under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Jitendra Yadav, who has been made the presiding officer in the absence of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. AAP is not participating in this election. On the other hand, AAP has termed the election of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee "unconstitutional and illegal". However Delhi mayor had put a stay, but the LG overturned the decision

MCD election "unconstitutional and illegal"-AAP

Though the AAP publicly said that the elections will be held only on October 5. It happened that Mayor Shelly Oberoi had postponed the elections till October 5 on Thursday due to the disruption during the search of councillors. Later, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena overturned this decision and directed MCD Commissioner Ashwini Kumar to conduct the elections on Friday.

AAP said BJP is making fun of the Constitution

 While addressing a press conference,  Manish Sisodia and MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi accused BJP and MCD, making fun of democracy and the Constitution. Aap leader, alleged that the commissioner issued an order late Thursday night, directing the additional commissioner to conduct the elections as the presiding officer. He said, "The BJP is trying to repeat the same trick which it did in the Chandigarh mayor election, where it was caught red-handed." He also said that according to the rules, only the mayor, deputy mayor or a senior councilor can preside over the MCD House meeting.

Mayor Shelly Oberoi had postponed the elections

Even though Mayor Shelly Oberoi said,  that she has already announced the next House meeting and the election of the sixth member of the Standing Committee on October 5 and she  want to conduct, fair election. She called this order "unconstitutional, void and illegal.

Former CM Kejriwal said this

Ex CM Arvind Kejriwal  said on the MCD Standing Committee election, "I am surprised. The MCD House can only be called by the Mayor.The LG cannot call the House. Tomorrow he will say that the Home Secretary will call the Parliament session. There is a flaw in LG   intentions
