Encounter between security forces & terrorists in Kulgam, J&K, second encounter in 24 hours
An encounter has been taken place between terrorists and security forces on Wednesday in Badimarg area of Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, a joint team of Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel started a cordon and search operation in the area based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
While this is the second encounter within 24 hours. Earlier, security forces had also surrounded terrorists in Kupwara district of North Kashmir. Terrorists infiltrating Kashmir use this area to go to South Kashmir via Bandipora, Sopore, Ganderbal and Srinagar.
Encounter in Kulgam district of J&K
There is news of an encounter between security forces and terrorists near Badimarg under District Kulgam in South Kashmir. Earlier on Tuesday, soldiers surrounded three to four terrorists in Kupwara district adjacent to the LoC in North Kashmir.
Bandipora is adjacent to the LoC
Although the encounter continued in Nagmarg of Kupwara. This area is adjacent to District Bandipora and apart from this, this area also adjoins the LoC. Terrorists infiltrating Kashmir use this area to go to South Kashmir via Bandipora, Sopore, Ganderbal and Srinagar.
Seeing themselves trapped in the siege, the terrorists opened fire. The soldiers also retaliated to protect themselves. Intermittent firing continued from both sides.

Security forces launched search operations
Sources said that on the information of terrorists being seen in Nagmarg, the security forces launched an operation in the early morning. The terrorists are hiding under the cover of dense trees at a height. To surround them, a squad of security forces left from Kupwara and the other squad from Rubandipora area of Bandipora district.
Officials said that as soon as the team of security forces moved towards the suspected location, the hidden terrorists opened fire on them, in response to which the encounter started.
