Now an important change has been made in the statue of 'Goddess of Justice' installed in the Supreme Court. Earlier the statue of 'Goddess of Justice' used to have a blindfold on its eyes.

But now the blindfold has been removed from the eyes of the statue. The book of Constitution has been given place in place of the sword in the hand. This change has been made by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.

According to the information, this new statue of 'Goddess of Justice' was made last year at the behest of CJI DY Chandrachud. Then it was installed in the judges' library in the Supreme Court. But now after almost a year, the pictures of the statue of 'Goddess of Justice' in a new look are going viral.

Why was the bandage removed?

Earlier the eyes of the statue of 'Goddess of Justice' were blindfolded. But this strip has been removed from the new statue, which means to show that the law of the country is no longer blind. At the same time, the book of the Constitution has been placed in place of the sword seen in one hand of the statue. Earlier, the sword used to show that the law punishes the criminals. But now the law will punish by staying within the limits of the Constitution.

However, the old statue of the 'Goddess of Justice' had a scale in one hand, which is still intact. The scale shows the balance of justice and tells that the law listens to both the parties and gives justice.

Why was the statue changed?

Here we let you know, that the law of the British has been changed some time ago. The courts have adopted 'Bharati Nyaya Samhita' in place of IPC. The purpose of which is to leave the British era behind and move forward according to the new time and circumstances.

At the same time, CJI Chandrachud believed that we have to move ahead from the British legacy now and have to show that the law is never blind, it sees everyone equally. This is the reason why the statue of the 'Goddess of Justice' installed in the court has been changed.

What is the history of the statue?

The 'Goddess of Justice' seen in Indian courts is actually a Greek goddess, whose name is 'Justia'. The word 'Justice' came from her name. Let us tell you that in the 17th century, an English officer brought this statue to India for the first time.
