Haryana: Today Om Prakash Chautala former CM of Haryana has passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 89 in Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The INLD supremo was brought to the hospital at 11.30 am. He died after 12 o'clock. Chautala's death has caused a wave of mourning in the politics of Haryana and the country. Om Prakash Chautala has been a seven-time MLA, five-time CM.
Om Prakash Chautala passed away
Om Prakash Chautala is the son of former Haryana Chief Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal. He was born on 1 January 1935 in the Chautala village of Haryana. Chautala was the 7th Chief Minister of Haryana. His father Chaudhary Devi Lal Chautala played an important role in the establishment of the state of Haryana and later Devi Lal was the Chief Minister of Haryana and Deputy Prime Minister of India.

Om Prakash Chautala played an important role in the development of Haryana. He was a big fan of rural areas and farmers. This was always reflected in his policies and speeches whether in power or in opposition. He was known as the most active leader in Haryana.
How was Om Prakash Chautala political journey?
Om Prakash Chautala won the assembly elections for the first time in 1970. After this he reached the Rajya Sabha.
On 7 December 1989, he became the Chief Minister of Haryana. But he remained on this post only for 171 days (22 May 1990).
Two months later, on 12 July 1990, he became the CM of Haryana for the second time. This time he remained on this post for only five days.
On 22 March 1991, he was appointed the Chief Minister of Haryana for the third time. This time he remained on this post for 14 days.
Exactly one year after this, i.e. on 24 July 1999, he became the Chief Minister of Haryana for the fourth time. He remained on this post for about four months.
In December 1999, he got the assembly dissolved. After this, on 2 March 2000, Chautala became the Chief Minister for the fifth time. This time he completed a full five-year term as CM.
In 2013, Om Prakash Chautala was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in the teacher recruitment scam.
