The culprit Akshay Shinde, who molested two minor girls in a school in Badlapur, was killed in an encounter by the police on Monday. At the time of the incident, the police was taking him to court for hearing. According to officials, the accused had snatched the pistol of the police in the car and opened fire on the police team. He fired several rounds on the team, in which some police officers were also injured. According to Badlapur police,  this incident happened when they are taking him to Taloja jail.

Statement of the inspector who was involved in encounter

The police Inspector Sanjay Shinde, who shot at accused Akshay Shinde, said after taking accused Akshay Shinde into custody from Taloja jail, we were taking him to our Ganesha K-1 office in Thane. At that time, Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh More, Police Havildar Abhijeet More and Harish Tawde were also with me. More and Harish Tawde were sitting with Akshay Shinde in the back of the police van and I was sitting next to the driver. Meanwhile  I got a call from Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh More, who told me that Akshay Shinde was shouting loudly.

I tried to calm Akshay down, but he was abusing. Meanwhile, when our car reached the Y Junction Bridge in Mumbai. The accused Akshay Shinde suddenly tried to snatch the official pistol of  More's. His pistol is loaded and a bullet hit his left leg, due to which he fell down. Akshay Shinde shouted loudly, "Now I will not leave anyone alive" Seeing this fierce form of Akshay and his intentions, we were completely sure that he was going to kill us. Therefore, for the safety of myself and my colleagues, I fired a shot towards Akshay from my pistol, due to which he got injured and fell down.

The heinous incident of Badlapur

The Badlapur police had arrested Akshay Shinde on charges of sexually assaulting two minor school girls. After the incident came to light, parents of the school children and local people, including a large number of women, participated. During the protest, the protesters vandalized the school and also pelted stones at the local railway station during 'Rail Roko'. SIT is investigating in this case.
