Hearing in Supreme Court today on Tirupati Laddu controversy, SG will give his opinio
Tirupati: Supreme Court today will hear the matter related to the use of alleged adulterated ghee in the Bhog Prasad in the temple of Lord Venkateswara Balaji in Tirupati. Meanwhile the Solicitor Tushar Mehta has said in the court on Thursday that on the instructions of the court, he will give his opinion to the court regarding the investigation of the case by 10.30 am today.
Controversy of laddu Prasad reached the Supreme Court
While thiscase will be heard by a bench led by Justice Bhushan R Gavai, Justice KV Vishwanathan and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra. Though between the Supreme Court hearing, the bench of justice asked the SG Tushar Mehta, whether the investigation of the SIT formed by the Andhra government should continue in this matter or the responsibility of investigation should be handed over to an independent agency.
How this matter come to light
The Andhra Chief Ministe Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the laddus served as prasad in the Tirupati temple during the previous government of Jagan Mohan Reddy were found to contain substandard ingredients including animal fat. Citing a report from a private lab in Gujarat, Naidu alleged the presence of 'beef tallow', 'lard' (related to pig fat) and fish oil in the ghee

Though former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has been denied these claims, saying that no violations took place during his rule. Reddy also accused Naidu of doing 'politics in the name of God' and called the Chief Minister 'a pathological and habitual liar'

The solicitor general will inform the court about his opinion in this regard. Chandrababu Naidu had made this claim
