Holiday in Lucknow for Chhath, government & private institutions will remain closed tomorrow

The festival of Chhath is being celebrated in many states of the country including Bihar, Jharkhand.  In the meanwhile, holiday has been declared in the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow as well for Chhath Puja. All private institutions, government offices will remain closed in the capital on tomorrow.

Holidays have already been announced in some states for this. At the same time, holidays have been announced in the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow as well.

Holiday declared in Lucknow

The order states that government and private offices will remain closed on November 7 on the occasion of Chhath. This order has been given by DM Suryapal Gangwar.

 Significance of Chhath puja

According to the methological scriptures, the Sun is in its lowest zodiac sign in the month of Kartik, so special worship of Sun God is done. So that health problems do not bother. Shashthi Tithi is related to the age of the child, so by worshipping Sun God and Shashthi, both the birth of the child and its longevity are achieved.

Although Nahaye-Khaye is the ritual of the first day of Chhath Mahaparva, in which the devotees follow this process to purify their body and mind. This day is mainly for purity and simple food.

Method of Nahaye-Khaye

In Chhath, the devotees take a bath in a holy river, pond or home early in the morning on the first day. Mix some Gangajal in the water. After the bath, the entire house is cleaned, especially the kitchen. The kitchen is kept pure and sacred. After this, the devotees take a pledge to follow the rules of Chhath Puja with full heart and soul.

On the day of Nahaye-Khaye, the devotees eat only simple, satvik food. Usually rice, gram dal and pumpkin vegetable are prepared. Garlic, onion or any kind of spices are not used in the food. Food is cooked in earthen or bronze utensils, and it is traditional to cook it on wood or cow dung cakes. The fasting person consumes it with purity and only after that other family members eat.

Kharna on the second day

Though the second day is called "Lohanda-Kharna". On this day people keep fast and eat kheer in the evening. Kheer is made of sugarcane juice. Salt or sugar is not used in it.

In Chhath festival, fasting is kept on the third day and arghya is offered to the setting sun. Along with this, a special type of dish "Thekua" and seasonal fruits are offered. Arghya is given with milk and water.

Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth day, after this, the fast is concluded by eating raw milk and prasad.
