Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: 59.28% voting recorded on 43 seats till 3 pm
Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: In the first phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections, voting has started at 7 am on 43 seats. 59.28% voting has been recorded on 43 seats till 3 pm. The highest voting has been 66.38% in Saraikela-Kharsawan. While the lowest voting has been recorded in Ranchi at 53.40%.
A total of 15 thousand 344 polling stations have been set up on these seats, where before the voting started, the election personnel conducted a mock poll in the presence of the representatives of the candidates.
While voters have started lining up at many booths located in the urban areas of Ranchi since 6 am. There is a significant number of women and young voters among them.
First phase of voting in Jharkhand
In this phase, a total of 1.37 crore voters will write the fate of 683 candidates on EVMs. Of these, the number of male voters is 68.73 lakh, and the number of female voters is 68.36 lakh. The number of voters in the age group of 18-19 years is 6.51 lakh.
Candidates in electoral race
The major candidates whose fate is to be decided in the first phase of elections include former CM Champai Soren, six ministers of Jharkhand government Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Mithilesh Thakur, Banna Gupta, Deepak Birua, Baidyanath Ram and Ramdas Soren, former CM Arjun Munda's wife Meera Munda, Odisha Governor Raghuvar Das's daughter-in-law Purnima Das Sahu, former Assembly Speaker CP Singh, former minister Saryu Rai, former IPS Dr. Ajay Kumar, who was the national spokesperson of Congress, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Mahua Maji and former CM Madhu Koda's wife Geeta Koda. Of the seats in this phase, 20 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 6 for Scheduled Castes, while 17 seats are general.
Booths are monitored through webcasting
In the meanwhile, Jharkhand chief electoral officer K. Ravi Kumar has informed that all the booths are being monitored through webcasting. High-definition cameras are installed inside and outside each booth.

However, 12 thousand 716 booths are located in rural areas and 2 thousand 628 booths are located in urban areas. There are 1152 polling stations where the entire voting process is in the hands of women, while 23 booths are being managed by youth and 24 booths are being managed by disabled workers.
Jharkhand Assembly Election
A total of 50 booths have been decorated as unique booths in these 15 districts with the aim of attracting voters and showing local importance. The booth located at Chipbandhi Dih in Tamar; Ranchi has been decorated on the tribal theme. At the same time, Balika Uchcha Vidyalaya Bariatu has been decorated on the theme of hockey.
The booth located at Saint Columbus College in Hazaribagh has been placed in the category of unique booth due to being the oldest booth. The Cantonment Board Upgraded Middle School of Patratu in Ramgarh has been developed in the form of a hut and the Upgraded Middle School Uchringa has been developed on the theme of tourism.
