Water Conservation Maha Abhiyan in Surat: There is a poem, “Water is life, without water the world will convert into a deserted! Without this there will be no forest or garden, nether crop will grow in the fields! Water is Amrit, water is life” In simple words, water is life, save it. So, water Preservation is the responsibility on all of us. All though a new revolution towards saving water A massive water conservation campaign is being organized in Surat.
Campaign is organized in Surat on 13 October
Keeping this fact in mind, the Modi government at the Center has started many important campaigns to save water. A mega campaign is being organized under water conservation in Surat, Gujarat on 13 October. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jal Shakti Ministry is looking forward to strengthening this, Maha Abhiyan. BJP State President and Union Waterpower Minister C.R. Patil, as well as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel will also be present in this special program. All though, this program will start a new revolution towards water conservation.
Senior BJP leaders will be involved in this mission
This mega campaign is being organized under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel will be especially present in the program. Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will also participate in this important program.

The preparations for this program are in the final stages, and many senior BJP leaders will also participate in it. The main objective of this mega campaign is to spread public awareness on water conservation and encourage collective efforts to solve the water crisis.
'Samagra Samaj and Samagra Sarkar'
Prime Minister Modi has launched the 'Jal Sanchay, Jan Bhagidari' initiative from Surat, which aims to build about 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures in Gujarat. This initiative is based on the 'Samagra Samaj and Samagra Sarkar' approach, in which all citizens and government organizations are being inspired to work together.
Water crisis situation in India
Though water crisis has become a serious problem in India. 18% of the population here depends on only 4% of water resources. According to recent data, groundwater level in 256 out of 700 districts is in a state of 'critical' or 'overexploitation'. Water conservation initiatives are needed to improve this situation, so that water availability can be ensured for future generations.
Government schemes for water conservation
National Water Mission: It aims to conserve water and reduce water wastage. Along with this, to ensure equitable distribution of water and promote sustainable development of water resources.
Jal Jeevan Mission: The main objective of this mission launched in 2019 is to provide piped water supply to every household in all rural areas by 2024.
Atal Ground Water Scheme: This scheme launched in 2019 is based on community participation and aims to improve groundwater management. This scheme is being implemented especially in the water-scarce districts of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the government has also launched many schemes.

This Jal Sanchay Maha Abhiyan to be organized in Surat is being held on the occasion of completion of 23 years of good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This program will not only increase awareness about the water crisis but will also encourage public participation. When Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had pledged to ensure the availability of water in every corner of the state. Now this Jal Sanchay initiative has taken the form of a mass movement, which will send a special message of water conservation across the country.
