PM Modi inaugurated Jammu Railway Division, 742.1 km railway route
Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Jammu Railway Division (JRD), taking a big step towards further accelerating connectivity in India by early 2025. While this inauguration was done through video conferencing.
Big day in terms of new age connectivity
In the meanwhile, the Prime Minister said, 'Today is the day of new connectivity for a large part of the country. Modern development is starting in Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Odisha in the east and Telangana in the south. This shows that now the whole country is moving forward together. This is the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', which makes us believe in the dream of a developed India.'
Country's metro network becomes 1000 km
The PM said, 'Since the beginning of the year 2025, India has made rapid progress in terms of connectivity. Yesterday I had a wonderful experience of 'Namo Bharat' train in Delhi-NCR and also started new projects of Delhi Metro. Yesterday was a very special day for India because now the metro network in our country has become more than a thousand kilometers.'
New division includes a total of 742.1 km long rail routes
Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla (423 km), Batala (excluding)-Pathankot (68.17 km), Bhogpur-Sirwal-Pathankot (87.21 km), and Pathankot-Joginder Nagar (short line, 163.72 km).
PM Modi also inaugurated the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana and also laid the foundation stone of the Raigarh Railway Division building of East Coast Railway in Odisha.
Congratulated for all three projects
PM Modi said, 'Today I congratulate the people of these three states and the entire country for these projects. Also, this is also a special occasion because today is the birthday of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and I wish him a very happy birthday.'
There are currently 17 zones and 68 railway divisions in the country
Many important rail routes have been included in the Jammu Railway Division. These include the routes of Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla (423 km), Pathankot excluding Batala (68.17 km), Bhogpur-Sirwal-Pathankot (87.21 km), and Pathankot-Joginder Nagar (short line, 163.72 km).
At present, the railways in India operate train services through 17 zones and 68 divisions. During a special program organized in Jammu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma also participated. The formation of this new Jammu division will also lead to the reorganization of the Ferozepur division, which is expected to improve rail operations.
Inauguration of the new terminal station of Charlapalli in Telangana
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) informed on Sunday that PM Modi will inaugurate the Jammu Railway Division on Monday. Along with this, the inauguration of the new terminal station of Charlapalli in Telangana and will also lay the foundation stone of the Raigad Railway Division building of the East Coast Railway.
The inauguration of the Jammu Railway Division will benefit the Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, Baramulla, Bhogpur, Sirwal and Batala-Pathankot routes included in the 742.1 km long rail line. Along with this, the Pathankot to Joginder Nagar route will also improve. This will solve the long-standing rail connectivity problem of the region.

Improvement of the railway network will provide new employment opportunities to the people, develop infrastructure and promote tourism. This will accelerate the social and economic development of not only this region but the entire country.
Foundation stone of Raigarh Railway Division Building
Charlapally New Terminal Station in Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana has been designed as a new coaching terminal, which will also have new entry provisions. The construction of this terminal will cost around Rs 413 crore. This eco-friendly terminal will provide excellent facilities to the passengers and will reduce the congestion at the coaching terminals of major cities like Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kachiguda.
