PM will virtually inaugurate Jammu Railway Division today, employment & tourism will get boost
Jammu Railway Division Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Jammu Railway Division through video conference on Monday. During this, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will also attend this event. Meanwhile today PM Modi is going to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various railway related projects.
Though, initially 721 km has been included under the new division. This will mainly include the railway section from Jammu to Srinagar-Budgam section. Pathankot, Jogindernagar and other nearby rail sections have also been included.

PM Modi will virtually inaugurate the Divisional Railway Manager office. This will be in the circulating area of Jammu railway station. Even though this section inauguration will end the dependence of Pathankot area of Valley and Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Ferozepur Division. After the start of direct train service from Delhi to Kashmir, the Government of India had decided to create a new railway division in Jammu.
Initially 721 km will be in the new division
According to the news sources, the Railway Board had issued a notification on January 1 for the establishment of a new railway division in Jammu. Although after this, a final decision will be taken about its jurisdiction. Initially 721 km has been included under this new division of railway route. This will mainly include the railway section from Jammu to Srinagar-Budgam section. Pathankot, Jogindernagar and other nearby rail sections have also been included.

New rail division was created by removing the northernmost part
Railways says that the areas around Jammu and Kashmir are in priority. Soon operations will start from Jammu to Srinagar. Earlier this area was under Ferozepur Division. Indian Railways has decided to establish it as a new rail division by removing the northernmost part from Ferozepur Division. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said earlier that I believe that this is a matter of great pride and happiness for all of us. The Prime Minister has accepted our request and decided to give Jammu a separate railway division, which was long awaited and necessary.
