UP Assembly Passes 'Banke Bihari Temple Trust Bill', Trust To Manage Temple Offerings

The Shri Banke Bihari Temple Trust Bill, 2025 provides for the formation of a trustee board, whose trustees have been proposed to be appointed by the state government. According to the bill, the board will include 11 nominated and seven ex-officio members.

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an ordinance, under which Shri Banke Bihari Temple Trust will be formed.

According to the bill, the nominated members can include three eminent persons related to Vaishnav traditions, sects or peeths, three eminent persons (saints, sages, gurus, scholars, mahants, acharyas etc.)

Shri Banke Bihari Temple Trust Bill were introduced in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly today. During this, the Banke Bihari Trust Bill was passed by voice vote in the UP Assembly.

Descendants of Haridas ji will also become members

Apart from this, three such persons belonging to any branch or sect of Sanatan Dharma who are educationists, scholars, entrepreneurs, social workers etc. can also be included in it. Two such members will be nominated in the temple from the Sevayat Goswami tradition who is descendants of Swami Shri Haridas ji.

Uttar Pradesh government has issued an ordinance

It has been provided in this bill that the District Magistrate of Mathura, Senior Superintendent of Police, Municipal Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer of Uttar Pradesh Braj Tirtha Vikas Parishad, an officer of the Charitable Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Banke Bihari Ji

Temple Trust and any member appointed by the State Government to fulfill the objectives of the Trust will be ex-officio members of this Trustee Board.

World class facilities for devotees

After the formation of the trust, the target has been set to provide world class amenities to the devotees - arrangements like prasad distribution, separate darshan path for senior citizens and disabled, drinking water, benches for rest, access and queue management kiosks, cow shelters, Annakshetra, kitchen, hotel, inn, exhibition room, canteen and waiting room will be developed.

Shri Banke Bihari Temple is spread over 870 square meters

Highlighting the objectives and reasons of the proposed bill on behalf of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, it was said that Shri Banke Bihari Temple located in Vrindavan town of Mathura district is an ancient and world famous temple where a large number of devotees and tourists visit every year.

This temple is spread over about 870 square meters, out of which about 365 square meters is used as a scenic courtyard. It was told that due to the narrow path leading to Shri Banke Bihari Ji temple, devotees and visitors have to face a lot of inconvenience.

Summary

The Uttar Pradesh government has said that the trust has been formed to carry forward the tradition of Swami Haridas. The customs, festivals, ceremonies and rituals that have been going on since the time of Swami Haridas will continue without any interference or change.
