The Election Commission has announced the date of election on Milkipur seat of Uttar Pradesh along with Delhi Assembly elections. Along with Delhi, voting will be held on 5 February on Milkipur seat of Ayodhya district, the results of which will be declared on 8 February.

Milkipur seat of Ayodhya was vacant after Awadhesh Prasad was elected MP

By-election date of  Milkipur seat of UP has been announced

Nomination of candidates on Milkipur seat will start from January 10 and will continue till January 17. After that, scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates will be done on January 18 and candidates who want to withdraw their nomination can withdraw it till 20 January. If we talk about voting, voting will be held here on 5 February and the results will be declared on 8 February.

Seat vacated due to resignation of Awadhesh Prasad

In the 2022 assembly elections, Samajwadi Party's Awadhesh Prasad was elected MLA from Milkipur seat. Akhilesh Yadav gave him ticket from Faizabad (Ayodhya) seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and he won the election by defeating BJP's Lallu Singh, after which he resigned from the post of Milkipur MLA and by-elections are now being held on this seat.

By-elections have already been held on 9 seats of UP

Earlier, by-elections have been held on nine assembly seats of UP. Out of these, NDA had won 7 seats while SP had won two seats. Samajwadi Party had won Karhal and Sisamau seats, while BJP had won Majhawan, Kundarki, Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar, Katehari and Phulpur and RLD had won in Meerapur. The most surprising result was of Kundarki because this seat has been considered of the Bark family. This time BJP's Ramveer Singh has made lotus bloom in Kundarki.

Why election not held in Milkipur?

The Election Commission had informed that former MLA Gorakhnath Baba had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the 2022 assembly elections. This petition was filed by Gorakhnath Baba after the 2022 assembly elections regarding the victory of SP's Awadhesh Prasad, which was pending in the court.

Summary

However, now this petition has been withdrawn. If we announce the candidates, then SP has made Awadhesh Prasad's son Ajit Prasad its candidate from Milkipur assembly seat. While BJP has not yet announced its candidate here.
