Though a special program was organized in Surat, Gujarat on Sunday, 13 October 2024 under the 'Water Conservation, Public Participation' campaign. Meanwhile this initiative has been launched by the PM Narendra Modi government  to solve the water crisis and promote water conservation in the nation. However main objective of this initiative is to make people aware of the importance of water conservation and actively involve them in this noble cause.

Program has started by lighting a lamp

While the program was started by lighting a lamp. Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were welcomed. Even though Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma were also present in the event.  Along with this, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary was also participated in this water conservation campaign .All though during the program, a resolution letter on water crisis was also presented, in which a call was made to make everyone aware of water storage and conservation.

How to increasing water level

Meanwhile  Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary participated in this event. The Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil presided over the program.

 

However in this discussion was held on how to increase the underground water level and water conservation. It was also raised that in view of the huge shortage of water and increasing water crisis, we have to take concrete steps towards water storage.

 

This program is also a celebration of 23 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rule in Gujarat. When Modi was the Chief Minister, he had implemented many important schemes to deliver water to all areas of the state. Today, when this campaign is taking the form of a mass movement, it is expected that it will send an important message of water storage across the country.

 

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Jal Sanchay Abhiyan has started from Surat. While the  main objective  of this initiative is to build about 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures in Gujarat. This effort is being made to deliver water to those areas also, where people are worried for a drop of water. Now the government seems to be very serious about the water issue, and that is why this campaign has been started with the cooperation of three states.

What did Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Said?

The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Samrat Chaudhary said, that there are 21 districts in Bihar where water comes from Nepal, but it is not possible to stop this water. He told that when the NDA government was formed for the first time in 2008, then 2 lakh cusecs of water released from Nepal used to spread flood water in the whole of Bihar. But this time about 6.30 lakh cusecs of water was released, which was arranged by the state and central government.

 

He said that Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are constantly facing water shortages, and through this campaign, the water problem across the country can be solved. Samrat Chaudhary thanked CR Patil for this initiative and said that many dams were being built in the country for a long time, but were not able to be built. He also told that a plan has been made to build four dams to stop the water entering Bihar from Nepal.

Address of Chief Ministers

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Bhajanlal Sharma said in his address that Rajasthan is a state where there is immense potential for water resources, but water shortage is the biggest challenge. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and said that his leadership is taking important steps in this direction. Sharma also told that Rajasthan will get the biggest benefit of this campaign, where there is a shortage of water.

 

At the end of the program, Sankalp Patra was distributed, in which public participation was called for water conservation. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil motivated all the people present to participate in this campaign by explaining the importance of water conservation.

Step should be taken for water conservation

The Chief Ministers also warned that if water conservation measures are not taken from today, then there may be a struggle for water in the coming times. They told the public that water conservation will not only solve the current problems but will also ensure the availability of water for the coming generations.

 

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan emphasized that our ancestors had deeply understood the importance of water conservation, and today's generation also needs to understand it. He said that if we do not become serious about water conservation, then it can become our biggest concern in the coming times.

 

This event organized in Surat is important not only for Gujarat, but also for other states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's water policy aims to save the entire country from water crisis. Such campaigns will help in making the public aware and motivate them to take concrete steps towards water conservation.

Prime Minister Modi's initiative to solve water crisis in the country

Central Water L&T Minister CR Patil praised the water conservation initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Jal Sanchay Abhiyan event held in Surat. He said that the work that is being done in Gujarat since the announcement of this program in March 2021 is not happening anywhere else in the world.

 

The program started with lighting of lamps, in which Union Minister and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were welcomed. Patil said that given the problem of water extraction from the ground in Kadodra, there is a need for irrigation measures there. He also told that while discussing campaigns like "Har-Har Nala", there was doubt as to how these works would be possible, but the government has successfully implemented it.

 

Patil also told that Prime Minister Modi has worked to provide tap water to 15 crore houses in the last five years. He said that Congress never paid attention to this issue, while this work was possible under the leadership of Modi. He said that Modi is talking about developed India, and providing water to every house is an important goal.

 

Mean CR Patil said that the water situation in India is alarming. Despite half the population and 18% of the livestock in the country, India has only 4% potable water. He warned that if we do not solve this problem, we will give wealth to the coming generation, but will not be able to survive without water.

Water conservation schemes

Under this scheme, CR Patil said that a plan has been made to recharge 14,800 closed bores in Gujarat, in which the government will bear 90% of the expenditure. Along with this, industrialists have also pledged to make four bores in every village of Rajasthan, which will be for irrigating the land.

 

All though Union Minister CR Patil appealed to the people to involve their acquaintances in this work and adopt as many villages as possible. He said that the work of converting public participation into a mass movement has started from Surat, and this model will spread across the country.
