January 25 is Paush Purnima, and hence, devotees have gathered to take the holy dip on the occasion of Purnima. The next auspicious day will be on 9 February, which will be Mauni Amavasya. There are a total of 6 days on which it is considered Subh (auspicious) to take a dip in the holy rivers starting from January 14, Makar Sankranti. This is the second day. The third will be on 9 February. The fourth will be on the festival of Basant Panchami on 14 February, the fifth on 24 February Magh Purnima, and the last on 8th March Mahashivratri.
Security Arrangements for Paush Purnima
Authorities were aware of the Mela and the number of devotees who could turn up for the Holy bath, so they made prior arrangements for security. Ranging from trained divers to safety nets to the usage of CCTV and arrangements of drones have been made.
