Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of his birth anniversary. In his homage, PM Modi lauded the simplicity, unwavering dedication to the nation, and the iconic slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" associated with Shastri. This slogan, which translates to "Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer," continues to resonate with the spirit of India today. PM Modi also emphasized Shastri's exceptional leadership qualities, particularly during challenging times, and expressed his commitment to realizing Shastri's vision for a strong India.

"His unwavering commitment to India's progress and his leadership during challenging times remain exemplary. May we always work to realize his vision for a strong India," PM Modi remarked.

Lal Bahadur Shastri's birth anniversary provides an apt occasion to reflect on the life and contributions of India's second Prime Minister. Born on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, Shastri emerged as a pivotal figure in shaping India's destiny and earned widespread respect as one of the nation's most revered leaders.

Shastri's early life was marked by a strong dedication to education and a deep passion for serving his country. Influenced by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and other prominent freedom fighters, he actively participated in India's struggle for independence. His involvement brought him into close contact with several notable leaders, and he played an active role in movements such as the Salt Satyagraha and the Quit India Movement, which resulted in his imprisonment by the British colonial authorities.

Following India's independence in 1947, Lal Bahadur Shastri entered the realm of politics, where he continued to exemplify his commitment to social justice and the welfare of the common people. As the Minister of Railways, he introduced significant reforms that greatly improved the railway system, earning him the well-deserved title of "The Father of the Indian Railways."

In paying homage to Lal Bahadur Shastri, Prime Minister Modi underscores the enduring legacy of this remarkable leader and renews the commitment to fulfilling his vision for a resilient and prosperous India. Shastri's life journey, marked by humility, unwavering dedication, and iconic slogans, continues to inspire generations of Indians and serves as a beacon of leadership and service to the nation.
