The Union Council of
Ministers met under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chairmanship on Monday at
the Pragati Maidan convention facility, which will host the G20 Leaders Summit
on September 9-10.
The four-hour
discussion resulted in a “fruitful exchange of views on diverse policy-related issues,” Modi tweeted shortly after the meeting ended.

Union minister
Meenakshi Lekhi told the reporters afterward, “Today’s meeting discussed
topics like Vision 2047, development works, steps to take India forward, and
infrastructure development.”
During these
gatherings, the Prime Minister typically gives a speech and listens to reports
from various government agencies.
After a series of
meetings among BJP leaders, Monday’s gathering comes amid heightened
speculation over a possible Cabinet reshuffle. On June 28, Modi met with a
number of senior party officials, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP
President J. P. Nadda, and Party Organisational Secretary B. L. Santhosh, to
assess the state of the party and its political prospects. Rajasthan,
Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram all have state elections
this year, and the BJP has been working tirelessly to get ready for them.
According to our
sources, the PM gave a comprehensive account of his recent official visits to
the United States and Egypt during Monday’s meeting. They said, “There was
a presentation about those trips, too.”
According to insiders,
Modi discussed the upcoming G20 Summit in great detail, emphasising the
importance of the participation of all ministers. It is reported that he
restated the government’s commitment to the 2047 road map, with an emphasis on
infrastructure development in honour of India’s centennial of independence.
Two Powerpoint
presentations were reportedly given during the meeting, one on the
infrastructure sector and capital expenditure, and another on the ‘India 2047’
vision.
Before Parliament’s
monsoon session begins on July 20, there may be one last opportunity to
reorganise the Cabinet. Modi may shake things up in his ministry, according to
sources, in order to “infuse freshness” into underperforming
divisions. They also noted that the government’s changes help eliminate
weariness.
There has been
widespread speculation that the BJP’s national leadership is planning to
relocate some of the party’s most prominent state figures to central government
or party positions.
Lekhi earlier in the
day called UCC a welcome development and said the country’s women deserve equal
treatment, both of which would likely be used by the Opposition to corner the
government during the forthcoming monsoon session.
I think it’s great that this
has been done while our administration is in charge there. She argued that all
women in the country should be treated fairly and equally, regardless of their
religious background.
Lekhi added that the
monsoon session will begin in the existing Parliament building and would be
moved to the new structure as soon as it’s completed
