Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate 9 Vande Bharat Trains Spanning 11 States Today
In a significant move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off nine Vande Bharat trains spanning eleven states today at 12.30 p.m. This follows his recent unveiling of the foundation stone for an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency.
The nine Vande Bharat trains set for inauguration include:
- Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express
- Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai Vande Bharat Express
- Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
- Vijayawada-Chennai (via Renigunta) Vande Bharat Express
- Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express
- Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express
- Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri Vande Bharat Express
- Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express
- Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express
These trains will operate across a diverse set of eleven states: Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
According to the railway ministry, the Vande Bharat trains aim to enhance connectivity to important religious destinations across India. Notably, two Vande Bharat routes will connect key pilgrimage sites: the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri route linking Puri and the Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai route serving Madurai.
The Vijayawada-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will operate via the Renigunta route, facilitating access to Tirupati, a renowned pilgrimage destination.
These Vande Bharat trains are distinguished by their world-class amenities and advanced safety features, including the innovative Kavach technology, which can automatically apply brakes to control train speed if the loco pilot fails to do so.
The government highlights that these Vande Bharat trains will be the fastest on their respective routes, promising significant time savings for passengers. For instance, the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Puri Vande Bharat Express and Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express will be around three hours faster than the current fastest trains on their routes. Similarly, the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will offer more than a two-and-a-half-hour time reduction, the Tirunelveli-Madurai-Chennai Vande Bharat Express will be more than two hours faster, and the Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, and Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express will save about one hour in travel time. Lastly, the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express will reduce travel time by approximately half an hour.
