Russian President Vladimir Putin has lauded India's 'Make in India' initiative during his speech at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. Putin commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in promoting products made in India and the 'Make in India' program.

Speaking about domestically manufactured automobiles, Putin emphasized that countries like India have set positive examples through their policies under Modi's leadership. He mentioned that India predominantly focuses on producing and using cars and vessels manufactured within the country, and Prime Minister Modi's promotion of the 'Made In India' brand is a step in the right direction.

Putin stated, "We have those vehicles available as well, and we should make use of it," highlighting the importance of using domestically made vehicles. He also emphasized that using Russian-made cars would not violate any WTO obligations and would primarily apply to state purchases. Putin mentioned the need to establish guidelines for different classes of officials regarding the cars they can drive, with an emphasis on the use of domestically manufactured vehicles.

Furthermore, Putin pointed out that using Russian-made cars is logistically convenient and suggested that it would be easier to acquire them. He expressed support for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) project, emphasizing that it would not hinder Russia and could benefit the country by enhancing logistics.

While acknowledging the United States' participation in IMEC, Putin noted that their involvement appeared more business-oriented. He saw the project as an extension of Russia's North-South project and believed it would facilitate additional movement of goods along the corridor without posing any obstacles to Russia's interests.
