Vietnam's Deputy Foreign Minister, Do Hung Viet, spoke at the Raisina Dialogue 2024, expressing Vietnam's strong interest in bolstering economic, trade, and investment relations with India. He emphasized the exceptional historical ties and political trust shared between the two nations.

Do Hung Viet highlighted India's unique standing among major powers, citing the absence of negative history, conflicts, or disputes. He emphasized the cultural and religious similarities, as well as the shared global perspectives as developing, non-aligned countries.

Common Goals and Collaboration

"We view the world, I think, in a similar way. We are both developing countries, non-aligned countries. We both want to develop our relations," stated the Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister, underlining the common goals and aspirations.

Economic Collaboration

Drawing parallels to India's multi-vector foreign policy, Do Hung Viet connected it with Vietnam's strategy of diversification and multilateralization of relations. He expressed eagerness to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties, aiming to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership with India.

Expanding trade relations between Vietnam and India

While acknowledging India as one of Vietnam's comprehensive strategic partners, Do Hung Viet pointed out the potential for further expansion in the trade and investment relationship. He emphasized the need for increased bilateral cooperation, especially in economic domains. Addressing regional dynamics, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed mutual aspirations for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. He underlined the significance of upholding international law, multilateral cooperation, and the law of the sea for a better future in the region.

Reiterated Vietnam's commitment at Raisina Dialogue

Participating in a discussion at the Raisina Dialogue 2024, Do Hung Viet reiterated Vietnam's commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with India across various sectors. The discussion focused on 'Desecuritising Development: Resilience in the Indo-Pacific,' aligning with the launch of the report 'Regional Integration in the Indo-Pacific: Connectivity, Cooperation and New Supply-Chain Linkages.'
