Reliance Foundation outlines 10-point assistance initiatives for Odisha railway accident victims; Disaster Management Team sent to help relief operations

Our<br /> special disaster management team was dispatched to the spot as soon as the<br /> accident was notified to speed up rescue operations. The

Following
the railway tragedy in Balasore, Odisha, on June 2, Ms. Nita Ambani, the
founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation (RF), said in a statement, “Our Foundation, along with the wider
Reliance family, stands as a pillar of strength alongside the affected
communities in these difficult times.”

The
immediate and long-term relief strategies outlined in the following ten points
will benefit those affected by disasters:


1.
Jio-BP network offers free fuel for ambulances responding to disasters.


2.
Reliance Stores will give affected people flour, sugar, dal, rice, salt, and
cooking supplies for the upcoming six months. Free ration supply, which
includes oil.


3.
Free medication for victims of accidents to meet their urgent medical
requirements; Medical care for those seeking admission.


4.
Services for emotional and mental health counseling.


5.
To offer job possibilities through Jio and Reliance Retail to one deceased
family member in accordance with the situation.


6.
Providing wheelchairs and artificial limbs to people with disabilities.


7.
Training in specialized skills for those affected to generate new jobs.


8.
Microcredit and training options for women who have lost their position as the
family’s primary provider of income.


9.
For alternative livelihood support, livestock such as cows, buffaloes, goats,
and poultry will be given to the rural families impacted by the accident.


10.
One year of free mobile data to let the grieving family member start over.

Since the accident, the Reliance Foundation’s
professional disaster management team has begun operating in Balasore and has
worked closely with the Emergency Section, Collector’s Office, Balasore, and
the National Disaster Response Force.


As soon as possible at the spot of the accident,
Reliance Foundation volunteers who were involved in rescuing trapped passengers
in the coach, including gas cutters, had made masks, gloves, ORS, bed sheets,
lighting and other essentials immediately available for rescue.


Reliance Foundation has coordinated with youth
volunteers in the area to immediately prepare meals for about 1,200 people in
order to guarantee that rescue operations go on without interruption. Water for
drinking was also provided in sufficient amounts.


The Disaster Management Team at Reliance
Foundation has been working to empower and prepare communities to handle any
calamity, whether it is natural or man-made, for more than ten years.

In order to achieve this, it has launched
numerous projects meant to facilitate reconstruction and offer relief, and it
has helped more than 2.10 crore people in more than 48 disasters.


The Reliance Foundation, which has always
supported the country in its hour of need, has now promised to offer support to
the families devastated by this terrible disaster.
