Russian Election: The west stands against Putin as he sweeps Russian elections
Russian President Vladimir Putin has secured a sweeping win at the Russian Presidential election on Sunday securing his another term as the head of the Russian Federation. This will be the fifth term of the Vladimir Putin. Putin who is a former KGB lieutenant colonel secured a 87.8 percent of votes making it the largest victory ever since the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
According to the Russia’s Central Election Commission, President Putin secured a whopping 87% of the votes from a total of 60 of the precints counted. Voting took place in Russia from 15th March to 17th March.

This is a historic win for the president as he will even cross the serving period of Josef Stalin who ruled over the country for 29 years. After the completion of his sixth term, Putin will complete 30 years in power with a term of 6 years.
West against Putin as President
Powerful countries from west have together raised their voice against the election calling it unjust. From United Kingdom to United States, France Germany and other countries have collectively called the elections unfair.
The death of the Alexei Navalny, a popular opposition leader who was sentenced for 19 years in prison has also become a topic for those against the Putin winning election with protests across the world.
United States: The USA said that the elections were neither free nor free as Putin has a past of imprisoning political opponent and prevented others from running for it. The country also opposed the elections being held in the occupied Ukrainian territory as it is against the principals of sovereignty of Ukraine. An official statement issued to UN by USA along with 50 other countries including EU countries, France, Australia and Japan.
David Cameron: The former UK PM took to X to express his views on Russian elections calling it illegal for being held in Ukrainian territory. He said " this is not what free and fair elections look like."
Germany: The foreign ministry of the country said that the result of the elections were not surprising as Putin. The ministry took to X to say “The pseudo-election in Russia is neither free nor fair, the result will surprise nobody. Putin’s rule is authoritarian, he relies on censorship, repression & violence. The ‘election’ in the occupied territories of Ukraine are null and void & another breach of international law."

Poland: the country in an official statement called the elections illegal , unfair and not free. It said “The Kremlin’s unlawful decision to conduct the election in the temporarily occupied parts of Ukraine deserves particular condemnation. It is an ostentatious violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter, and may only be treated as another attempt to undermine Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
Ukraine: The President of Ukraine, the country highly effected by Russian and Russian elections condemned the elections calling Putin " sick with power." He said “These days, the Russian dictator imitates another “elections.” Everyone in the world understands that this person, like many others throughout history, has become sick with power and will stop at nothing to rule forever."
