In a recent address, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the allegations of a plot to murder pro-Khalistan elements in the United States and Canada, emphasizing that the issues raised by the two countries were distinct. Jaishankar highlighted that the United States had provided specific information regarding the alleged plot, whereas Canada accused Indian agents without presenting any supporting evidence.

During an event in Bengaluru, Jaishankar stated, "If any country, not just Canada, has a concern and gives us some input or some basis for that concern, we are always open to look at it. This is what countries do." He clarified that India is prepared to investigate specific issues raised by other nations and has conveyed to Canada that the decision to pursue further action is in their hands.

The United States requested India's assistance in an investigation into an alleged plot to kill Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Sing Pannun. The U.S. Department of Justice filed an indictment against Nikhil Gupta, accusing an Indian government employee of hiring hitmen for this purpose.

On the strained relations with China, Jaishankar expressed India's desire for better ties. He acknowledged challenges in neighboring relationships but singled out Pakistan as an exception. Jaishankar emphasized that despite difficulties, India continues to engage in diplomacy, stating, "However difficult your neighbors, however challenging they are, you never give up."

He also commented on the India-China relationship, expressing the hope for improved ties. While recognizing the border agreements, he pointed out that the recent challenges were a result of China's choice not to observe these agreements. Jaishankar stressed the importance of perseverance in diplomacy, even in the face of difficulties with neighboring countries.
