Sarabjit Singh's assailant killed: The person accused of killing an Indian national, Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan, Amir Sarfaraz Tamba was shot-dead by bike borne assailants in Lahore on Sunday. Amir Sarfaraz Tamba was a close associate of 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack Hafiz Saeed. Tamba was taken to the hospital after the attack but could not survive the injury.

Who was Sarabjit Singh

Sarabjit Singh was an Indian national who was found guilty of terrorism in Pakistan and was given life imprisonment in Pakistan. Sarabjit Singh was brutally attacked by inmates in jail and later succumbed to the injuries.
He was a resident of Bhikhiwind in the Tarn Taran district in Punjab. Tarn Taran district is located on the Indo-Pak border.
Sarabjit was  arrested by Pakistani border guards in 1990 while he was drunk. Pakistan said that he crossed the border illegally.  Sarbjit's wife claimed that he went to work on field and never returned.
Pakistani authorities accused Sarbjit for being involved in 4 bomb blasts in Pakistan's Faisalabad and Lahore in 1990, which killed 14 people. In 1991, a Pakistani court found Sarabjit guilty and gave him death sentence under Pakistani Army Act, which was later upheld by a higher court, but the supreme court rejected his appeal.
In the year 2012, Sarabjit appealed for the grant of mercy to the President of Pakistan, Asaf Ali Zardari who changed his punishment of death sentence to life imprisonment.
In 2013, the government of Pakistan agreed to exchange Sarabjit in exchange for Pakistani nationals jailed in India but a different person was released, casing the Indian government's temper to rise.
The same year, Singh was attacked by inmates in the jail with bricks and iron rods which put him into the state of coma.
The Indian government even demanded to move him to India or a third country for treatment but the demand was rejected by Pakistan. Sarabjit could not survive the injuries and he passed on May 1. Sarabjit was jailed in the high-security Kot Lakhpat jail. He was 49 years age at the time of his death.
