Several new initiatives have been undertaken to tackle Mumbai's air pollution
At present, Mumbai is facing severe air pollution. Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, will preside over a meeting today to discuss the state's present pollution situation.
On Thursday, the city's air quality stayed in the "moderate" range. Several locations had an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) between 100 and 130, according to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Authorities have launched a number of new initiatives to lower air pollution in response to Mumbai's declining air quality.
Initiatives such as "fogging guns are being used to clean air," "sprinkling water on construction sites," and "cleaning up the roads with water" were mentioned by Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
He urged citizens not to set off firecrackers during Diwali and offered his assistance to improve Mumbai's poor air quality index.
The civic corporation has begun work such as washing roads and footpaths, and they will continue their efforts to reduce pollution. He stated that it is everyone's responsibility.
According to Kesarkar, some filters are being installed and tested in various locations, and the best technologies will be implemented in Mumbai.
The Bombay High Court instructed municipal corporations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region this week to take steps to make sure that firecrackers are not set off after 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Action is being taken against those who are burning hazardous plywood and other materials in bakeries and cellular prices. There were certain areas where acid was being used to make gold ornaments, and action had been initiated against them. It is our responsibility to ensure that Mumbai residents have clean air that is free of pollution, he added.
