Smriti Mandhana Joins The 10,000-Run Club:  Indian women's star batter Smriti Mandhana has added another historic achievement to her illustrious career. She completed 10,000 runs in international cricket during the fourth Women's T20 International match played against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, December 28. Mandhana became the fourth player in the world to reach this milestone. Before her, this feat was achieved by India's Mithali Raj, New Zealand's Suzie Bates, and England's Charlotte Edwards.

Mandhana's performance in this series against Sri Lanka had been average so far, and she needed 27 runs to reach this historic figure. Mandhana had also completed her 4,000 runs in Women's T20 International cricket earlier this month in the first match and was trying to regain her form amidst preparations for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
Mandhana started her innings with a boundary on the very first ball of the match and immediately followed it up with another boundary, as India was playing with the intention of putting up a big score. While Shafali Verma was playing an aggressive role, Mandhana was not far behind and also hit some brilliant fours. The Indian opener completed her 10,000 runs in international cricket with a single in the seventh over. 2026 is going to be special Mandhana's record in ODI cricket in a calendar year has also been exceptional. She scored 1352 runs in a year, which is the most runs scored by any female player in a calendar year. The Indian vice-captain also has a chance to become the highest run-scorer in international cricket in 2026. She is currently 868 runs behind Mithali Raj.
