AFG vs AUS, ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Highlights: Australia entered the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy after the important match of Group B against Afghanistan was canceled due to rain on Friday. The match had to be stopped due to rain when Australia scored 109 runs for one wicket in 12.5 overs in response to the target of 274 runs.
Despite all the efforts of the ground staff, water was filled in many places on the pitch, seeing which the umpires decided to cancel the match after inspection.
Rain came an hour before the cut-off time to complete the match.
Australia made it to the semi-finals with four points. Its last match against South Africa in Rawalpindi was also cancelled due to rain. At the time of rain, Travis Head was playing with 59 runs in 40 balls with the help of nine fours and one six.
Rashid Khan also gave him a lifeline in the mid-on on a ball bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqui on a score of six, which he took full advantage of. On the other end, captain Steve Smith had scored 19 runs in 22 balls.

Now Afghanistan's chances of reaching the last four are very less. It will have to wait for the result of the match between South Africa and England. If South Africa wins, it will be on top of the group.

Afghanistan's net run rate is currently minus 0.99 and it can avoid being eliminated only if South Africa loses by a margin of more than 200 runs.

Earlier, on the basis of half-centuries of Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai, Afghanistan scored 273 runs in 50 overs at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and gave Australia a target of 274 runs to win.
This target is not big for Australia, but the way Afghanistan is showing passion, it is not going to be that easy.
Sediqullah scored the most runs for Afghanistan, who played an innings of 85 runs in 95 balls. During this innings, he hit six fours and three sixes.
While Azmatullah Omarzai was dismissed after scoring 67 runs in 63 balls. He hit five sixes during his innings.
Ben Dwarshuis took three wickets for Australia, while Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa took two wickets each.
