ICC World Cup 2023 is creating unprecedented records across various dimensions, marking a remarkable success in terms of broadcast viewership, stadium attendance, and revenue generation from sponsorships and TV rights. The recent India vs. New Zealand semi-final set a new record with a live viewership of 5.3 crore on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has secured partnerships with 20 sponsors, including six global partners, for the World Cup 2023. Industry experts anticipate that the ICC stands to earn a substantial 150 million dollars, equivalent to approximately Rs 1,249 crore, from the tournament.

Viewership on TV has seen a significant increase, with a 12% rise compared to 2019, as reported by Disney-Star. This surge in TV engagement has contributed to a substantial profit of Rs. 2,500 crore for Star and Disney. The boost in viewership is not only reflecting positively in the entertainment sector's financials.

The economists at the Bank of Baroda predict a substantial boost to the Indian economy, estimating a growth of Rs 22 thousand crores due to the ongoing Cricket World Cup. Television rights are anticipated to contribute significantly, with an expected income of Rs 12 crore. Drawing parallels with the 2019 World Cup, which stimulated the British economy by Rs 3,600 crore, it's projected that various factors like screening, ticket sales, travel, shopping, and event management will further contribute to the economic upswing, generating Rs 7,000 crore and Rs 3,000 crore, respectively. A detailed report on earnings is awaited from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Over a million people gathered to witness the thrilling matches across ten stadiums during the first 42 matches of the Cricket World Cup 2023, leading up to the first semi-final. The India-Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium alone drew a crowd of one lakh spectators.

The excitement is set to peak in the final match, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia's Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will be in attendance. The title clash between the formidable Indian team and Australia will also see the presence of notable figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The famous Surya Kiran aerobatics team of the Air Force is scheduled to perform an air show before the match, adding to the spectacle. To ensure security, a contingent of 4,500 security personnel will be deployed at the stadium.
