Former Pakistan captain’s attack on Dhoni struggle in IPL 2025: 'Should've Left Long Back...'
IPL 2025: Rashid Latif on Dhoni: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is going through a bad phase in IPL (MS Dhoni in IPL), has been advised by former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif that he should have quit playing long ago. 43-year-old Dhoni has scored modest scores of 30 not out, 16, 30 not out and zero not out in four matches for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. Chennai's team is at the bottom of the table at the ninth position after losing three out of four matches.
While talking to news agency former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif said that Dhoni should have quit cricket long ago. Being a wicketkeeper batsman, he believes that this responsibility should now be handed over to someone else.
'Choosing Dhoni above team is unfair'
Latif further said, he should have quit long ago. A wicketkeeper usually lives till 35, I myself am an example of this. If I am on TV then I am a performer, and when I am not able to perform at a high level then my respect goes down. Even if you have shown great game for 15 years, the new generation will not be impressed by it.

Latif further said that Chennai choosing Dhoni above the team is 'injustice to the game of cricket'. He said, "Even in the 2019 ODI World Cup, his playing did not benefit the team, it should have been understood then. If you choose a player above the team, it is injustice to the game, that is why he is being trolled.
I watched 2-3 matches, the crowd makes a lot of noise, but CSK needs points right now. They are at the bottom of the table and if the reason for this is just one or two players, then you should understand the need of the hour.
Summary
In the meanwhile, IPL 2025regarding Pakistani players not playing in the IPL, he said, "Obviously, we also miss it, if we also played, it would have increased interest and business. If our players were playing, some broadcaster would have definitely shown it here."
