Harbhajan Singh revisits IPL's controversy involving him & Sreesanth: 'Insaan hu, Bhagwaan nahi'

Harbhajan Singh apologizes for Thappad kand:  Whenever we talk about the most talked about controversies in Indian cricket and IPL history, the slapping incident is the first thing that comes to mind. This controversy took place between Harbhajan Singh and S. Sreesanth in the first season of IPL. Even today, 17 years later, Bhajji is haunted by the ghost of the slapping incident.

He has apologized for this on Sunday as well.

The slapping incident between Harbhajan Singh and S. Sreesanth starts trending on social media every now and then. On Sunday, a user shared a video related to this on X platform and asked what Bhajji sir would say about it. Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh also replied to this. He wrote, 'Brother, this was not right. It was my mistake. This should not have happened.

But a mistake happened. I am a human. Not God.' Bhajji has apologized by posting a folded hands emoji with his answer.

Let us tell you that in the first season of IPL, Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI (Punjab Kings) match was played on 25 April 2008. This match was played in Mohali. After the match was over, during the award ceremony, Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth in front of everyone on the field.

This dispute between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth started when Kings XI Punjab defeated Mumbai Indians by 66 runs. After the match, the players of both the teams were shaking hands with each other. Then Sreesanth said something to Harbhajan. Angered by this, Harbhajan slapped him.

After this incident, Sreesanth was seen crying bitterly, the video of which went viral.

BCCI took this matter seriously and took immediate action. After investigating the matter, the board found Harbhajan Singh guilty and suspended him from the remaining 11 matches of IPL 2008. Along with this, his entire match fee was confiscated.
