Team form and standings
The Clippers enter the contest on the second night of a back to back after defeating the Denver Nuggets 115 to 114 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The arena will host the 2026 NBA All Star Weekend.
Bennedict Mathurin scored a game high 38 points, including a late free throw that put Los Angeles up by three with about nine seconds remaining. Denver had three free throws to tie the game with less than a second left but missed the final attempt.
The Clippers improved to 27 and 28 and are ninth in the Western Conference.
The Lakers are fifth in the West at 33 and 21. Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James are each averaging more than 20 points per game this season.
Los Angeles last played on Feb. 12, registering a 124 to 104 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
