IND Vs AUS: Champions Trophy Semi-final: India needs 265 runs to reach the final
IND Vs AUS: In the first semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy being played in Dubai, Australia has set a target of 265 runs for India to win. If Team India manages to achieve this target, then it will become the first team to reach the final of Champions Trophy 2025.
India has got a target of 265 runs to win. Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets, while Jadeja and Varun Chakraborty took 2-2 wickets.
The Australian team, batting first, was all out after scoring 264 runs in 49.3 overs.
For Australia, Steve Smith played an innings of 73 runs, while Alex Carey scored 61 runs. Mohammed Shami took three wickets for India.
Smith and Carey hit half-centuries
The Australian team, which came to bat first, had a bad start. On the last ball of the third over, Shami sent Kapur Conley back to the pavilion.
But after this, there was a 50-run partnership for the second wicket between Travis Head and Steve Smith. Head played an innings of 39 runs in 33 balls before getting out on Chakravarthy's ball.
Australian batsmen were facing difficulty in scoring freely against the Indian spinners.
When the partnership of Smith and Labuschagne was looking dangerous, Jadeja got Labuschagne, who was playing after scoring 29 runs, out LBW. Smi, however, stood firm at one end and scored 73 runs in 96 balls before being bowled by Shami.
Shami took three wickets
After Smith's dismissal, Australia's wickets kept falling. However, in the meantime, Alex Carey, who was in good form, completed his half-century.
The pressure of continuously falling wickets was also seen on Carey and he was run out after scoring 61 runs. The Australian team could not even play the full 50 overs and was all out after scoring 264 runs in 49.3 overs.
Shami was the most successful bowler from India. Shami took three wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs. Jadeja and Varun Chakraborty got two wickets each. While Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel got one wicket each.
The Indian team has not made any changes for this match going on in Dubai. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has told that the team is coming with four spinners.
In the match against New Zealand also, the Indian team came with four spinners and Varun Chakraborty took five wickets.
Australia has made two changes in its team for this match. Captain Smith said that Cooper Connolly has got a place in the team in place of Matt Short. While Tanvir Sangha has been included in the team in place of Spencer Johnson.
Performance of India and Australia
While both of its remaining matches could not be played due to rain. On the other hand, South Africa won two matches and its match against Australia was cancelled due to rain.
South Africa was the top team in this group, while Australia was second.
The second semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand will be played on Wednesday, March 5.
