India could make changes to the playing XI for its final group stage match against the Netherlands in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are likely to be rested as the team has already qualified for the Super 8 stage.

India will face the Netherlands on February 18. The team has won all three of its group matches so far. India defeated the United States and Namibia before registering a 61 run win over Pakistan on Sunday.

Focus shifts to Super 8 stage

With qualification secured, the team management may look to test combinations ahead of the Super 8 stage. Strong teams such as West Indies, South Africa, Australia and Zimbabwe are potential opponents in the next round.

The match against the Netherlands is not crucial in terms of points. It offers an opportunity to assess bench strength and team balance before tougher fixtures.

Bumrah and Hardik may be rested

Jasprit Bumrah did not play against the United States due to fever. Hardik Pandya has featured in all three matches so far. Both players are key to India’s plans in high pressure games.

Mohammed Siraj is likely to replace Bumrah and could be tested in match conditions. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has favoured batsmen in the tournament, which may provide a challenging outing for the bowlers.

In Hardik’s absence, Shivam Dube could be tried with the new ball, similar to his role in the 2025 Asia Cup final. The team may give Dube a full four over spell to evaluate his bowling options for bigger matches.

Opportunity for other players

If Hardik is rested, Rinku Singh and Axar Patel may get additional time with the bat. Washington Sundar, who has returned after a long injury break, could also be considered for selection.

Varun Chakravarthy, who has played all matches so far, may be rested as part of workload management.

India squad for T20 World Cup 2026

The squad includes Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh.
