Virat Kohli's place was fixed at number three in India's T20 team till the World Cup 2024. After Kohli's retirement, experiments are going on at this number and many players have been tried.

Shreyas Iyer made Kolkata Knight Riders champions as captain last season. He used to bat in the middle order then. But now his plan has changed. Iyer said, 'We all know that IPL is an integral part of Indian cricket. If I want to establish myself at one position in T20, it would be number three.
My focus is on this. However, I will not say that we are making any plans about which number I have to bat at.
