Matthew Forde, Marco Jansen Exchange Words In T20 World Cup 2026 Clash
Matthew Forde hits Marco Jansen for six, exchanges words in WI vs SA T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash in Ahmedabad.
West Indies batter Matthew Forde was involved in a heated exchange with South Africa pacer Marco Jansen during the Super 8 match of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision by skipper Aiden Markram paid off as the West Indies top order struggled early against a disciplined pace attack.
The flashpoint came after Forde struck Jansen for a six. Following the maximum, the two players exchanged words in the middle, drawing immediate attention from players and spectators.
Forde’s stay at the crease was brief. He was dismissed in the 11th over by Corbin Bosch, who combined with Ryan Rickelton to complete the wicket. Forde scored 11 off 9 balls, including one four and one six.
West Indies were under pressure soon after the dismissals of Brandon King and captain Shai Hope. Within nine overs, the team had lost six wickets. Batters including Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford departed cheaply.
Pacers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada led the charge with the new ball. Ngidi claimed three wickets in his four overs, while Rabada picked up two. Bosch also finished with two wickets as Markram rotated his fast bowlers effectively.
Despite the collapse, West Indies recovered to post 176 for 8 in 20 overs. Jason Holder scored 49 off 31 balls, while Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on 52 off 37 to lift the total.
The result of the fixture holds significance in Group 1 of the Super 8 stage. Before the match, West Indies topped the table on net run rate with two points, while South Africa were second with the same tally. India remain in contention, and net run rate could play a decisive role in determining the two semi final spots from the group.
