Philadelphia 76ers Suffer Heavy Loss To Nuggets As Three-Point Struggles Continue
Philadelphia 76ers suffer 124-96 loss to Denver Nuggets as poor three-point shooting and injuries lead to another one-sided defeat.
The Philadelphia 76ers never led during their 124-96 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, as continued struggles from beyond the arc and a depleted roster resulted in another one-sided defeat.
Playing on the road, the Sixers fell behind early against a strong Nuggets side led by Nikola Jokić. The hosts raced to a double-digit lead within minutes. By the end of the first quarter, Denver led 38-22, with Jokić registering eight assists. The gap widened to 21 points early in the second quarter and touched 30 before halftime.
The game remained non-competitive throughout, marking another heavy defeat for Philadelphia. The team has now recorded multiple uncompetitive losses since the beginning of February.
Sixers' three-point shooting woes continue
Philadelphia’s offensive struggles remained evident, particularly from long range. The team shot 9-for-41 from three-point distance. MarJon Beauchamp led the effort with 4-for-9 shooting, but the overall output reflected an ongoing issue.
The Sixers lack consistent three-point creation, especially with key players unavailable. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George were among the notable absentees, limiting the team’s scoring options.
Recent games have highlighted similar struggles. The team previously shot 3-for-25 from beyond the arc in a win over the Brooklyn Nets, indicating a continued lack of efficiency.
The current rotation includes a mix of developing players and role contributors, with limited perimeter shooting strength. Players such as Quentin Grimes, Justin Edwards, Cam Payne, and VJ Edgecombe have shown varying levels of shooting ability but have not consistently impacted games.
Odds and ends
Head coach Nick Nurse confirmed before the game that Embiid participated in a morning shootaround session and an individual workout, which went well. Embiid was later booed by the home crowd when he appeared on the bench in the second half.
Nurse used all 11 available players during the game, including veteran Kyle Lowry. Beauchamp emerged as a positive with his shooting performance.
VJ Edgecombe had a difficult outing, struggling with shooting and foul trouble. Trendon Watford’s recent performances have also raised concerns, while Justin Edwards has shown improvement in recent games.
Jabari Walker missed his third consecutive game due to illness and did not travel with the team. The forward may rejoin the squad later in the road trip.
Up next
The Sixers will continue their three-game road trip with a fixture against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.
