A tense moment unfolded during a Pakistan Super League match as Daryl Mitchell and Usman Tariq were involved in an on-field exchange that required umpire intervention.
The incident occurred during the match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United on Friday.
Mitchell, who was batting for Rawalpindi, appeared uncomfortable with Tariq’s bowling action. During the ninth over of the innings, Tariq paused in his delivery stride, following his usual routine. Mitchell stepped back from the crease, leading to a brief halt in play.
Tariq returned to his mark and attempted to bowl again, but Mitchell again stepped away and was seen speaking to teammates. The on-field umpire then intervened to address the situation.
According to reports, the umpire informed Mitchell that Tariq’s bowling action was within the rules and asked him to continue facing the deliveries. Mitchell also presented his point to the umpire during the exchange.
Tariq appeared visibly upset during the incident.
Match Summary
Batting first, Quetta Gladiators posted 182 for six. Rilee Rossouw scored 53 runs off 42 balls, while Hasan Nawaz added 39 off 16 balls. Saud Shakeel contributed 42 runs.
In reply, Rawalpindi were bowled out for 121 in 17.3 overs. Mitchell scored 30 runs off 32 balls, while Shan Masood was the top scorer with 31 runs.
Quetta secured a comprehensive win in the match.
