Lucknow Super Giants lost to Delhi Capitals in their first match of IPL 2025 on Monday (March 24). It was a high-scoring match. The Capitals achieved the target of 211 runs in the last over with one wicket to spare. However, there were many occasions in the match when LSG let the game slip out of their hands, as they dominated on many occasions but could not get the lead.

Lucknow Super Giants faced Delhi Capitals in the fourth match of IPL 2025. LSG batted first and scored 209 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Delhi won the match by scoring 211 runs with one wicket remaining.

After the defeat, captain Rishabh Pant talked about the positive aspects of the team. At the same time, the statement of the assistant coach of the team looked different from Rishabh Pant.

LSG batted first and scored 209 runs in 20 overs

At one point it looked like they would score around 250, but they could only score 209 runs and then they had reduced DC to 66/5 but gave the DC team a chance to come back in the game. After the match, LSG captain Rishabh Pant expressed happiness seeing the positive aspects for the team. Pant said that as a team one should move forward with good things.

Pant's statement

Pant said after the match, I think our top order batsmen did really well, and I think it was a pretty good score on this wicket. As a team we want to take positivity from every match and as a team we want to learn from it.

Coach Lance Klusener's statement

However, in the post-match press conference, LSG assistant coach Lance Klusener said that after a good start from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, they fell behind by about 20-30 runs.

Klusener said, If I have to put a finger on it, I will say we probably left 20 or 30 runs with the bat. That was probably the reason we came under pressure with the ball.

He said, I think DC did well with the bat, but we are in this situation because we did not score enough runs, which we should have scored. I think when the bowlers bowled right, there was a bit of spin, so I thought it was a very good wicket. It had something for everyone.
