Who Will Be The Wicketkeeper Of Team India In Asia Cup:  The Indian team for Asia Cup has not been announced yet. The selection committee meeting will be held in Mumbai to select the team, only after which the whole picture will be clear.

If seen, this time the selectors may have to work hard in selecting the team for Asia Cup. There are a total of seven contenders for the wicketkeeping slots, out of which the names of maximum two can be finalized.

Asia Cup will be played in two cities of United Arab Emirates (UAE) - Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Sanju Samson: Sanju has performed well in T20 Internationals, and he has scored 861 runs in 42 T20 International matches for India. This includes three centuries and two half-centuries. The three centuries that Sanju scored in T20I came last year. He scored two centuries against South Africa and one against Bangladesh.

Sanju Samson has done well as an opener in T20I, but he could not do anything special in the middle order. Sanju's average in the middle order has been 18.83 and he could score only 1 half-century. If Shubman Gill is selected for the Asia Cup, he will open, while Abhishek Sharma's claim as the second opener is very strong. Abhishek is currently at number one in the ICC's T20 batting rankings. In such a situation, it may be difficult for Sanju to make a place in the playing-11.

Rishabh Pant:  Rishabh Pant has not done anything special in T20 cricket for the Indian team, yet he is a strong contender. By the way, whether Pant is able to fit till the Asia Cup or not, it will also be a big thing. Pant suffered a right leg injury during the Manchester Test match against England, from which he is recovering. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Pant scored only 269 runs in 14 matches. During this, he was out for less than 10 runs on seven occasions.

KL Rahul: In 2025 IPL, KL Rahul scored 539 runs in 13 matches for Delhi Capitals. Rahul also performed well in Test matches on the England tour. Rahul batted at number four in most of the matches in IPL 2025, but India already has many options in the top 5. In such a situation, it will not be easy for him to make a place in the playing-11.

Jitesh Sharma: Jitesh Sharma can also be a great option as a wicketkeeper. He played the role of finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2025. Jitesh scored 261 runs in IPL 2025 at a strike rate of 176.35. Jitesh can give a strong option to the team as a finisher not only in Asia Cup 2025 but also in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

Dhruv Jurel: Dhruv Jurel has played only 4 T20I matches for the Indian team, but he can be a good option as a wicketkeeper batsman in the middle order. In IPL 2025, Jurel scored 333 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 156.33 for Rajasthan Royals (RR). Jurel also went on a tour of England, where he got a chance to participate in the last Test match.

Prabhsimran Singh and Ishan Kishan also in the race

Prabhsimran Singh and Ishan Kishan are also in the race for selection as wicketkeeper-batsman. However, both are top order batsmen, so their claim looks a bit weak. Ishan scored a century in his first match in IPL 2025, but after that he could not maintain the momentum.

Summary

Ishan Kishan scored 354 runs in 14 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last IPL. On the other hand, Prabhsimran Singh performed well for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, scoring 549 runs in 17 innings at a strike rate of 160.52.
