Elon Musk's satellite-based internet service Starlink is constantly in the news. The reason for the discussion is Starlink's separate but similar partnerships with Jio and Airtel. Elon Musk's aerospace company SpaceX will soon be able to provide satellite internet in India with the help of Jio and Airtel.

Under this, Starlink equipment will be available to you from Jio and Airtel stores. Now the question is how Starlink different from Jio is and Airtel's AirFiber.

However, Starlink has not yet received the green signal from the Government of India. Information released by Airtel and Jio states that both of them will sell Starlink equipment at their stores. There is not much information yet on how this entire service will work.

Jio and Airtel have AirFiber service, which offers wireless internet service. A question that is coming to the minds of people is that when the service of Air Fiber was available, then what will be the benefit of the arrival of Starlink. Also, the option of satellite communication is available on Apple iPhone. Let us know how all these technologies are different from each other.

How does AirFiber work?

The current AirFiber is nothing but a wireless broadband service, in which you get high-speed internet through 5G network and advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology. Even though this service is wireless, it still has to depend on the tower. In this, an antenna is installed at your home, which connects you to the nearest telecom tower.

This service proves to be very helpful in those areas where broadband cable cannot be reached. On this you get a speed of 100 to 200 Mbps with low latency. Both Jio and Airtel offer this type of service.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is very different from the AirFiber available in India. Where AirFiber is connected to a tower, due to which their connectivity is available only up to a limit. On the other hand, Starlink is a satellite best internet service provider, which gets connectivity from SpaceX's satellite.

It uses low-earth orbit satellites, with the help of which users get high-speed internet. Since this service is available directly from the satellite, it can be available even in places where there is no space to install towers and lay cables. Currently more than 7 thousand Starlink satellites are working, with the help of which users can get connectivity even in remote areas.

To use it, you will also have to use an antenna at your home, which will connect directly to the satellite and provide you internet. In simple language, you can understand it like a TV dish antenna. Once connected, you will be able to connect your phone and other devices with the help of Wi-Fi.

Will Starlink run directly on the phone?

No, this is not going to happen at all. To use Starlink, you will need a receiver just like AirFiber. Some users may get confused between the satellite communication feature found in the latest models of iPhone and Starlink. The satellite communication feature found in the iPhone 16 Pro works just like the old satellite phone.

Satellite phones do not use cellular connection or Wi-Fi. Rather, they use special networks, which some companies offer. These companies manage and operate the direct connectivity of satellites.
