OnePlus may scale down or shut its smartphone operations in several global markets, including parts of Europe, as early as April 2026, according to a report.

A now-deleted post by tipster Yogesh Brar claimed that the company could exit global markets while shifting focus to entry and mid range segments in India.

Separately, a source familiar with the matter told 9to5Google that OnePlus is expected to cease operations in certain regions, including large parts of Europe. The report said a firm timeline has not been confirmed.

According to the report, some employees have already been informed, with a few receiving severance packages ahead of a potential shutdown.

The development comes amid leadership changes, with India CEO Robin Liu confirmed to have left the company and returned to China.

In 2020, OnePlus had scaled back major parts of its European operations after the launch of the Nord series and following the exit of co founder Carl Pei. Since then, the company has strengthened integration with parent firm Oppo, with Pete Lau taking on a senior role at Oppo.

The report said the reasons behind the possible move remain unclear, but internal restructuring at Oppo and changing market conditions could be factors. It also noted that the partnership with Hasselblad has ended for recent OnePlus devices while continuing with Oppo smartphones.

Industry conditions such as rising component costs and supply constraints may also be influencing decisions by Chinese smartphone makers.

Several OnePlus product launches are still expected, though availability outside China may be limited. The impact on after sales support, software updates and user services remains uncertain.

Realme, another brand under Oppo, has already been integrated as a sub brand, raising questions about OnePlus’s future positioning.

Responding to queries, OnePlus referred to its earlier statement on Liu’s exit.

"We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He moves on to pursue his personal passions, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours."

"OnePlus India operations continue with local strategy and business continuity ensured."
