Volkswagen India has unveiled the updated Volkswagen Taigun in India with design changes, new features and powertrain updates. The company has not announced the pricing yet.

Design and exterior updates

The SUV gets cosmetic upgrades including a refreshed front grille with connected LED DRLs, illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear, and new blacked-out alloy wheels.

It also features a connected LED light bar at the rear, sequential turn indicators and welcome and goodbye lighting animations.

Interior and features

Inside, the Taigun now offers multiple upholstery options in fabric and leatherette along with a two-tone dashboard.

The model comes with aluminum pedals, red ambient lighting and a new 10.1-inch infotainment system with 15 applications, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice assistant support.

A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation has also been added.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered and ventilated front seats and touch-based climate controls.

Safety upgrades

The SUV carries a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP and offers over 40 safety features.

These include front and rear parking sensors, hill-hold assist, traction control, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and an auto-dimming IRVM. Rear disc brakes have been added to the 1.5-litre TSI variants.

Engine and transmission

The Taigun continues with its existing turbo-petrol engines.

The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 115 hp and 178 Nm, while the 1.5-litre TSI delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm.

A new 8-speed automatic gearbox has been introduced for the 1.0-litre TSI engine, alongside a 6-speed manual option. The 1.5-litre engine continues with a 7-speed DCT.

Rivals in the segment

The updated Taigun will compete with models such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the Indian market.
